State-backed public utilities are failing to meet public expectations for clean, renewable energy. In a dire report issued on Friday, August 1, 2008, it was revealed that PG and E, San Diego Gas and Electric Co., and Southern California Edison are not on target with the goal of producing at least 20% of their energy via renewable sources. Of the three utility providers, Southern California Edison has managed to produce 15.7% using renewable sources, followed by PG&E and San Diego Gas and Electric co. with the lower percentages of 11.4% and 5.2%.
Don't wait up for the public utilities to get their act together, now is the time to invest in solar energy.
