More rate hikes for MID and TID customers? Central Valley residents receiving electrical service from Modesto Irrigation District or Turlock Irrigation District may soon get a shock along with their electric bill. Both electric service providers are proposing 12-20% rate increases for 2009. The situation has prompted public hearings to be scheduled for both districts.
MID will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, November 4, on the proposal which will raise residential rates 15 percent and business rates 12.5 percent to 20 percent. TID will also be holding a public hearing, on November 25, on a proposal that will raise residential rates by 13% and commercial and industrial rates by as much as 20%.
